Research plan of a communication strategy for the English taught programs at the UvA
This research plan was written for the course Advanced Business Research of the study International Business (year 4) as a thesis practice. For this research the case "Dutch universities again under fire over English; court case looms’’ was used as input. The case discusses the negative effects of English-taught lectures at Dutch universities and the fact that a Dutch lobby group actually wants to go to court with this and wants the government to imply tougher rules.
This threat of the lobby group might affect the University of Amsterdam, who has over fifteen bachelor programs fully taught in English. Because of the criticism of the lobby group as well as from students the UvA should focus on what they can improve in order to boost these educational standards and lower the criticism. They should strongly communicate the benefits of having English-taught lectures towards their students and the outside world.
This research plan discusses the problem, the undesired situation and how to derive at the desired situation. A theoretical framework is included and discusses several (persuasive) communication theories. Also the methodology is described how the UvA could actually research the problem.
- This research plan might be useful for students that want to acquire more information on how to write a research plan. However, the plan might also be useful for those who are looking for persuasive communication theories or have to write a similar report.
